Easy well tested HW solution!
by: fiskfarm

I designed a barrel stove in the 70's and after some experimenting I found that a loop consisting of 2 30" 3/4" ridged copper pipes and a 3" connector and 2 90 deg elbows were very adequate feeding a 30 gal hw tank standing next to the stove. Simple convection did the trick. As long as there is water in the pipes the solder will be fine.

The loop came in thru 2 holes in the rear about mid point up the side ( I had fire brick lining the drum bottom) just above the fire brick. This area was almost always exposed to the best heat from flames or coals. Worked great and I am planning on building another soon. Plans for this great stove with cook top and oven are on Ebay under "fiskfarm"
